Northern Melbourne Senior's Association is a group of young and old people gathered every last Sunday of the month to share their lives with others to entertain themselves with food and music.
It also brings out lot of interesting people for talks of interesting topics. It is a place to hang around, relax and enjoy the Sri Lankan culture and associate your friends and family.
The committee consists of both old and young members with various virtues in life. The main events are New year Vesak and Christmas celebrations. This is operated in association with
Whittlesea City Council.
25th October 2015 Meeting
Yet another successful NMSA get together was concluded last Sunday the 25th of October, where everyone enjoyed every minute of their stay with family and friends. As always the programme was commenced with National Anthems, fallowed by the popular exercise programme which everyone participated . Mr. Nuwan Samarapathi delivered a very inspiring talk based on Mind barriers and personal development. Mr.and Mrs. Sarath and Rubecca Kudagama provided a delicious meal to all the members in memory of their parents.
The afternoon session commenced with a very interesting talk by Mrs. Ranjanee Dodamwala a retired teacher , on a holiday with her husband Mr. C.B.Dodanwala who spoke about her life experience and the service they provide to woman in remote villages in Sri Lanka to generate an income by using raw materiel from the surrounding area. Sheila spent about 1/2 an hour on Trivia, another popular segment after lunch in every month, fallowed by music and dancing till about 4.00pm.
Upcoming events including the Dinner Dance on the 7th November at Epping Memorial Hall in aid of Cancer Patients Transport programme was announced before everyone left around 4.30 in the afternoon.
As always the day was filled with activities.
The attendance was well over seventy people. The day was started by singing
the Sri Lankan and the Australian national anthems. Then Dr. Gihan
Sugathapala from Lidarum drive medical clinic
gave a presentation and made an announcement that
Dr. Wasantha Gunathilake from the same clinic is happy to offer free medical checkups
for all the NMSA members for the next two weeks(Until end of September) immaterial of
whether you have a medicare facility or not. Dr. Divya Gupta gave a very interesting presentation
on diet , healthy eating and nutrition. Singing, dancing , Trivia and sharing the life experiences of members made the
second half of the day further interesting.
The day was over after announcing the up-coming events for the next three months.
